Salesperson Application Processing
After successful completion of the required sixty hours of education, you are eligible to sit for your Virginia Real Estate Salesperson Licensing Exam. This exam is administered by PSI Services on a first come/first served basis.
Once your successful course completion results are uploaded to PSI, you may register and schedule your examination at candidate.psiexams.com. You may also schedule your examination by calling (800) 733-9267.
When you have passed both portions of the examination, your completed license application and fee must be received within one (1) year from the original examination date by the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation at REBoard@dpor.virginia.gov.

On the day of the examination you should arrive 30 minutes before your appointment. This extra time is for sign-in, identification, and familiarizing yourself with the examination process.
You must provide two forms of valid (not expired) identification. One must be a VALID form of government-issued identification (Driver’s License, State ID, Military ID or Passport) which bears your signature and has your photograph. The second ID must have your signature and pre-printed legal name. All identification provided must match the name on the Examination Registration Form and your course completion certificate.
There are two portions to the exam:
- National – 105 minutes
- State – 45 minutes
Number of Questions on Salesperson’s License Exams
- National – 80 questions, 56 correct required to pass (70%)
- State – 40 questions, 30 correct required to pass (75%)
Notification of Results Process
Your score will appear immediately on the computer screen. If you pass, you will immediately receive a successful notification and performance summary on the screen.
If you do not pass, you will immediately receive an unsuccessful notification on the screen along with a diagnostic report indicating your strengths and weaknesses by examination type. An official score report will be printed at the examination site.
